JUDD PLATTENBURG
Life is a journey.....it moves fast without looking back and other times slows down with a breath taking view. I’ve always loved the ability to freeze slices of life in images, full of emotion, beauty, tension or whatever you see at that split second.
I also love the art of visual storytelling, whether it’s one photo or a series, when the viewer can feel the story being told, there’s a magic to that.
My name is Judd Plattenburg, and I’m an avid paddler, printer, and photographer. I love photographing everything from landscapes and river scenes, ballet dancers in Cuba to wildlife and abandoned America. I also love photographing Dayton, Ohio, my home.
Being a printer most of my life, I like different printing techniques and different substrates, so while I work with a lot of traditional processes, I’m also constantly experimenting or trying something a little different.
Silo City has been a 7 year project that has allowed me to meet a lot of very talented people and grow in the art of photography. I’ve tried to include a sense of the place in all of the photos, some with Models and dancers, and some without. The light in these old buildings is incredible, but always changing. Sometimes harsh and to bright, but sometimes soft and perfect. In the end, it seems everybody sees Silo City a little differently.
